Spooky season is here, and the annual rat-race of companies attempting to outdo each other in hair-raising visuals has transformed the city into the perfect playground for thrill-chasers — perhaps less ideal for the faint-hearted. But whichever category you fall into, here’s a line-up of Halloween activities that can get your heart pumping, or simply provide some light-hearted fun!

01 • Halloween Horror Nights 13

(Photo: 8days)

With an audience largely desensitized to horror, Sentosa has evidently made it its yearly mission to recreate hell itself. Shrouded in darkness, the faceless figures, vague red splatters, and disfigured humanoids are enough to put anyone's nervous system on edge. Throw in the grotesquely dressed live actors attacking you from every corner and it's the perfect hellscape.

This year’s HHN features four terrifying haunted houses, two scare zones, and a lineup of spine-chilling live shows. While Stranger Things brings some Hollywood horror to the mix, the rest of the haunted houses dive deep into Asian folklore — confronting us with the stuff of childhood nightmares. You’d have to be a bit of a masochist to enjoy it, but if that’s your thing, HHN13 absolutely delivers.

02 • Trick or Thrills

Not everyone is into self-inflicted trauma and Sentosa’s Trick or Thrill is the perfect family-friendly Halloween event for the well-adjusted. This daytime event at Universal Studios Singapore is an inclusive, mischief-filled way of joining in on the celebration, without the mental scars.

Personally, no celebrity can dethrone Elmo as my number one idol, and the Trick or Thrills meet-and-greet gives me far more delight than any hideously dressed gremlin ever could. Or you may prefer to meet your daily dose of laughter at the Belloween Bash as Mummy Stuart, Monster Bob, Evil Wolf Minion, and Vampire Kevin pull you into their world of chaos.

03 • Haw Ror Villa 4

(Photo: Haw Par Villa)

Nothing is more horrifying for us locals than an unlucky superstition fulfilled. Haw Ror Villa 4 however, is giving that a run for its money. The narrative-driven, park-wide affair soaks you in its suspenseful themes of ancient cults and rituals that’ll leave you looking over your shoulder long after you leave.

Haw Ror Villa incorporates three dedicated scare zones throughout the park, leveraging the eerie, atmospheric nature of the 10 Courts of Hell and the park's mythical statues. Be prepared for jump scares and chilling theatrical experiences that draw heavily from local folklore.

04 • Trick-or-Treat Family Fun

Halloween doesn’t always have to be such a morbid affair and National Gallery Singapore’s Trick-or-Treat family fun event is a testament to that. And just because it’s PG doesn’t make it any less fun.

Typical for an Art Gallery, their craft workshop encourages creativity with a monster arts and craft programme. Following that up is the much-neglected custom of trick or treating with friendly ghosts while the kids follow a map to discover selected spooky artwork.

📍 Address: Keppel Center for Arts Education, 1 St Andrew's Road, Singapore 178957

🗓️ Event period: October 5, 12, 19, 26, and November 2, 2025

05 • Candlelight

(Photo: Fever

Sophistication is not necessarily what comes to mind when one mentions Halloween, but Candlelight’s is here to prove us wrong. Bathing the concert hall in a warm flickering glow, it sets the perfect atmosphere for some eerie tunes.

This live classical concert trades in jump scares for goosebumps, with haunting renditions of everything from Thriller to Danse Macabre. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself dramatically pondering mortality during a string quartet cover of the Stranger Things theme. It’s moody, it’s melodic, and frankly, it’s the only Halloween plan where you can wear a cape without getting chased by something with bloodshot eyes.

📍 Address:  The Arts House; 1 Old Parliament Lane, Former Parliament House and Annex Building, Singapore 179429
🗓️ Event period: 25 and 31 October 2025
Event hours: 7pm and 9pm show

Unleash your inner freak at their costume contest — go big, go bizarre, and you might just walk away with bragging rights and a cash prize.

Although they have yet to release further announcements, you can expect distorted techno and EDM by popular DJ duo Axmo, that will feed into your inner chaos.
