I need to speak my truth. I think cats are better than dogs. But wait, before you boo me off the stage, hear me out. Most cat-haters have probably never stepped foot into a cat café. So before you judge an entire species, let me enlighten you by showing the 9 best cat cafés in Singapore. Who knows, you might leave with a new favourite animal 🐈❤️

‍

01 • The Cat Café

Past the cacophonous Mixue and up a shady-looking stairwell, there’s a slice of heaven waiting for you.

The Cat Café has been operating in Bugis since 2014, and I’ve been frequenting this place for a while too 🥹 Some of the cats I used to cuddle with are gone, but the 13 stars on the current roster are affectionate fluffballs too. Since I come here so often, I might take up the café’s offer for birthday celebrations…

05 • Meownistry of Meow

(Photo: Meownistry of Meow)

As much as I want to go to these cat lounges to do remote work, I fear that I won’t get anything done with all these lovable distractions around me 😫

That’s not gonna stop me from coming, though! Where else can I rent a private room to Netflix and catnap, with a full karaoke system to boot? If you’re planning on seeing the cats here often, signing up for Meownistry’s VIP membership ($300+ a month) gives access to unlimited visits, discounts on private rooms, and priority for adoption. A worthwhile deal, if you ask me 🤩

07 • Gem Cat Café

(Photo: Gem Cat Café)

Say you go to a cat café, but they don’t have that one specific breed that you like. To British Shorthair fans, I’ve got the solution for you. Everyone else, you’re on your own. Sorry!

Gem Cat Café houses 13 adorable Shorthairs right in the heart of Little India. The cats here are super affectionate, and will waddle up to you for pets and cuddles. The café area is pretty big, so there’s lots of room for two-legged and four-legged creatures to roam around. Also, when you book for an hour, you get an additional hour for free  👀

‍

📍 Address: 112 Desker Rd, Singapore 209634
⏰ Opening hours:
Tues to Fri, 1pm – 7pm | Café closed on Mon and Weekends
💸 Cost of entry: 1-hour entry including free drink or gelato, $22 | 1.5-hour entry including coffee, gelato, and cat treat, $32

08 • Pat-A-Cat

(Photo: Faustina Ng)

And pat cats I did 💙 The owner here is extremely kind and her passion for rescuing strays is clear, so I learnt a lot about pet adoption from her.

The ‘cat-sidents’ are also really sociable, no doubt due to the owner’s good vibes. This place is less of a cat café and more of a cat adoption centre, so don’t expect a wide variety of drinks and snacks. It’s also a little squeezy because of the small size and the number of cats, but I think it makes the place more cosy. To me, wall-to-wall cats are a dream come true ✨🧚🏻‍♀️

‍

📍 Address: 408B Joo Chiat Rd, Singapore 427635
⏰ Opening hours: Wed to Sat, 1pm – 8pm | Sun, 1pm – 6pm | Closed on Mon and Tue
💸 Cost of entry: 1-hour entry with free drink, $15

09 • Fluffydolls Catfe

(Photo: Fluffydolls Catfe)

Okay, I was expecting fluffy, but the cats here were Fluffy with a capital ‘F’.

This pedigree café prioritises small group sizes for their play sessions, so I didn’t have to passive-aggressively fight other customers over who gets to swing a mouse toy in front of the cats. I do not recommend this place for anyone with a sensitive nose, because the combination of Ragdolls, British Shorthairs and Longhairs, Siberians, and Maine Coons, was absolute hell on my sinuses. Do I regret it? Absolutely not 🤪

‍

📍 Address: 551A Balestier Road, Singapore 329868
⏰ Opening hours: Mon to Thur, 10am – 12pm, 1pm – 7.30pm | Fri, 10am – 12pm, 1pm – 8.30pm | Sat & Sun, 10am – 8.30pm
💸 Cost of entry: 1-hour entry with free drink, $30 | 2-hour entry with free drink, $48
