Plaza Singapura is a food haven for those looking for a place to eat in the city, which can often feel like a massive headache when you’re already pooped from the hunt for parking. Since this mall is located right at the edge of the Orchard shopping belt, it serves as the perfect pit stop for anyone who needs a quick recharge after a long afternoon of errands or a spontaneous road trip with the squad. Hungry yet? Let's dive into some of the top spots you should visit next time you’re in the area.
01 • Savoury pasta at Mamma Mia Trattoria E Caffè

When I visited Mamma Mia last month, I tried their Tortiglioni with Beef Oxtail Bolognese and it was a complete game-changer because the meat was so tender that it practically fell apart at the slightest touch of my fork. This eatery offers a casual, no-fuss dining experience that is perfect for those who want something more substantial than a sandwich but don’t want to pony up for a fancy restaurant. Their portions are generous, and their classic pink sauce pasta is an ever-reliable meal that costs less than $10. Because the restaurant is halal-certified, it’s also an inclusive choice for your entire group of friends regardless of their dietary requirements.

02 • Authentic grilled flavours at Seorae Korean Charcoal BBQ

Do you like BBQ? If you’relooking for a place that feels high-energy and exciting, this Korean spot is famous for its signature Galmaegisat, which is a premium cut of pork skin. Once reserved exclusively for the royal family of Korea, it is now a frequent favourite of my still-doesn’t-know-how-to-pronounce-annyeonghaseyo self. I remember the last time I went there with my friends; we spent nearly two hours laughing and grilling meat until our clothes smelled like charcoal, but it was totally worth it for that smoky, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

03 • Thai-style comfort at Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice

Singaporeans are serious about chicken rice. While many locals have their own favourite stalls in the heartlands, this famous brand from Bangkok brings a unique Thai twist to the dish by serving it with a spicy, pungent dipping sauce that adds a kick you won't find at your typical hawker centre. I usually order the double platter. If you’re a fan of chicken rice, you’ll appreciate how the rice here is fluffy and fragrant without being overly greasy or heavy on the stomach. The clear soup that comes with the meal is also very refreshing, and it helps to cleanse your palate before you head back out for the next leg of your journey.

04 • Sweet treats at nana’s green tea

Need a dessert? After a heavy meal, I often find myself wandering towards this cafe because their matcha parfaits are layered with jelly, ice cream, and mochi, providing a satisfying mix of textures and flavours in every single spoonful. The green tea is bitter. This contrast with the sweet toppings is what makes it so addictive, and one of my favourite ways to end a food hunt at Plaza Singapura.

05 • Juicy American burgers at Five Guys

Located right at the main entrance of the mall, this famous American burger chain serves up patties that are so succulent and flavourful that you will definitely need several napkins to clean up the mess afterward. I always order the cheeseburger with "all the way" toppings because the combination of grilled mushrooms and onions adds a rich, savoury depth that pairs perfectly with their hand-cut fries.
Have you tried their milkshakes? Like the burgers, you can add unlimited mix-ins like bacon or peanut butter to your shake for no extra charge and even though it sounds strange, the salty-sweet combination proves addictive every single time. Because the portions are so massive, I highly recommend sharing a large order of fries with a friend unless you’re feeling particularly hungry.

06 • Authentic Vietnamese flavours at Co Chung

Tucked away in the mall's basement is a small eatery that serves authentic Vietnamese dishes inspired by owner Aunty Chung’s childhood memories, making it a perfect spot for a quick, comforting lunch before you head out on your next errand. When I visited last week, I tried the Banh Mi, and the bread was so incredibly crispy on the outside while remaining soft and airy on the inside, just like the ones you’d find on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. The soup is clear. Since Co Chung doesn’t use any MSG in their cooking, the natural sweetness of the beef bones really shines through in every spoonful. In the basement of a busy mall, finding a place that feels this homey and genuine is quite rare, so it’s definitely worth a visit if you want something light yet satisfying.

07 • Michelin-starred dim sum at Tim Ho Wan

Famously referred to as the world’s most affordable Michelin restaurant, Tim Ho Wan has graciously brought their expertise to Singapore to ensure that we can enjoy its buns without breaking the bank. I always go for the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, which feature an incredibly crunchy crust. Even though I have eaten here dozens of times, that sweet and savoury explosion in the first bite still catches me off guard every time because the balance of textures is absolutely perfect. Anyone looking for good dim sum should absolutely take note.

08 • Traditional Chinese vibes at Nanjing Impressions

Inside Nanjing Impressions, the decor looks exactly like a traditional Chinese tea parlour from the dynastic era. Nanjing Impressions offers a unique cultural experience quite rare in modern shopping malls, combining authentic recipes with live musical performances (if you’re lucky) that make you feel like you have travelled back in time. I loved the juicy Celestial Roast Duck Dumplings. Because the menu is so extensive, I often find myself ordering way too many dishes just to try everything. That being said, I never regret it because finding food that’s this immersive is a total win for anyone who wants a break from the usual fast-food chains.
