If you’ve been scrolling through your feed lately, you’ve probably seen videos of long queues and floral-printed cups popping up everywhere. Mollytea has officially landed in Singapore, and the hype is real. Whether you’re a die-hard boba fan or just looking for a refreshing pit stop during your weekend drive, I knew I had to see if this floral tea sensation lives up to the vibes.

I rounded up the team, booked a GetGo, and headed out to try… well, basically everything. Here's our honest take on every drink on the Mollytea menu. 🚗💨

The Mollytea menu

First impressions

Even though it’s been almost a full month since its Singapore debut, Mollytea’s 313 outlet still commands monstrous queues. Our queue began outside the mall and snaked around the Mollytea store before our orders were taken. Thankfully, the entire ordeal was over in less than 10 minutes, thanks to a small army of workers relentlessly putting out drink after drink. Seriously, they run this thing like the Navy.

Our drinks were made in a similarly breezy fashion, with 70% sugar and less ice (as recommended by Mollytea). Before our yoghurt-seeking coworkers in the Yochi right next to Mollytea reached the halfway mark of their queue, we had already received our drinks. Thus, there was only one thing to do: start sipping.

Matcha

01 • Premium Jasmine Matcha ($5.90)

Generally speaking, the matcha flavours served by Mollytea turned out to be way less pronounced than what most people would expect, so matcha snobs should be warned! The jasmine counteracts the strength of the matcha to give a nice, neutral flavour. Though to be honest, this combo did overpower itself at times.

02 • White Champaca Matcha ($5.90)

Similar to the milk tea version, the matcha here adds an earthy base that allows the champaca’s nuttiness to pop. It is an interesting combination that feels a bit more "grown-up" than the sweeter floral drinks.

03 • Matcha Jasmine Salted Cheese ($6.90)

This is for the people who love a bit of complexity in their cup. The earthy, slightly grassy notes of the matcha are beautifully lifted by the fragrant jasmine tea base, making it feel much lighter than your typical matcha latte. The real squeeze, though, is in the salted cheese foam. It’s not overbearingly salty or heavy; instead, it adds a velvety, savoury richness that lingers as a mild aftertaste. It’s a sophisticated, well-balanced choice for those who want a treat that isn't strictly sweet, but might otherwise be put off by the extra-strong cheese foam that other milk tea stores might stock.

04 • Matcha White Champaca Salted Cheese ($6.90)

Between these drinks, I had been resetting my tongue with sips of water, but no amount of palate-cleansing could prepare me for drinking this back-to-back alongside the almost-ientical Matcha Jasmine Salted Cheese. Mollytea’s smooth flavour and texture profile make every drink agreeable, but any more than 3 nouns in a drink makes it way too hard to pick out each individual ingredient.

That’s not to say that this drink was bad per se, but I struggle to imagine a world where I would go “Oh boy, I can’t wait to head on down to Mollytea™️ for some of their Matcha White Champaca Salted Cheese ($6.90). But not the Matcha Jasmine Salted Cheese ($6.90), though… I hate that stuff! Bleugh!” Although now that I’ve spoken it into existence, I’m sure that someone out there has identified the minute differences between these 2 drinks, and has developed opinions about them they’d be willing to die for (or at least send me a strongly-worded email about). The point is, if you love one of them, you’ll probably love the other. Either way? They’re not for me, but I can see the appeal for those who find traditional matcha too bitter.

Floral Fresh Milk Tea

05 • Premium Jasmine Milk Tea ($5.20)

First impressions count for a lot, and boy, did this drink leave one. Immediately, I understood Mollytea’s appeal. There is barely any bitterness or that artificial "scenty" floral flavour you sometimes get with cheaper tea. Even at 70% sweetness, it doesn't feel cloying or nasty. The tea hits the tongue way more than the nose, which is exactly what you want in a drink to enjoy on the go.

06 • White Champaca Milk Tea ($5.20)

This one is for those who like a bit of mystery. The White Champaca has a unique, slightly nutty undertone that distinguishes it from your standard milk tea. It is subtle, elegant, and very easy to drink.

07 • White Champaca Oolong Milk Tea ($5.20)

My receipt assures me that the Oolong used here is, in fact, Tieguanyin, though I honestly couldn’t tell the difference. What sticks out to me here is the slightly nutty flavour of the Champaca. It’s probably for the best, too, because the Champaca flavour is too slight for it to really carry a whole drink on its own, and the Oolong and milk bolster the flavours with a sweet woodiness.

08 • Peach Oolong Milk Tea ($4.90)

Even when trying to maintain an air of objective impartiality (I love peach), this absolutely takes the crown for the most refreshing milk tea on the menu. The cakey texture also gracefully succumbs to the tea flavour by the time you finish the drink, so you’re guaranteed to end off with a smooth, floral end to your sipping experience. Juuuust enough to alleviate that post-milk-tea-guilt.

Floral Snowy Whipped Cream

09 • Snowy Jasmine ($6.50)

This is essentially the Jasmine Milk Tea, but topped with a cloud of whipped cream. The cream melts quickly, distributing itself fairly evenly as it dissolves with minimal stirring. It is a more consistent experience than you’d expect; it was at this moment that I bristled at the memory of having to desperately ration out a teeny crown of whipped cream across 700ml of a competitor’s strawberry tea and failing barely a third of my way through. It might not be worth the extra $1.30 for everyone, but it is a nice treat.

10 • Snowy Peach Oolong ($$6.50)

Interestingly, the cakey texture I loved in the standard peach oolong milk tea isn’t as present here. The cream adds a different type of richness that makes the drink feel more like a dessert than a refreshing tea, but the whipped cream almost dilutes the flavour too much compared to the milk.

Floral Brewed Tea

11 • Premium Jasmine Iced Tea ($3.90)

Sometimes a spade is just a spade, and a Premium Jasmine Iced Tea is just that: a pretty good iced tea. That being said, given that this drink forms the base for half of Mollytea’s menu, it did give me a more holistic appreciation of the tea chain’s whole thing. Despite sipping my way through, at this point, more than 10 distinct teas, I had barely felt the usual caffeine jitters.

12 • Jasmine Coconut ($4.90)

In this drink, the coconut adds more texture rather than a heavy taste. Though some might find it a bit too understated if they’re looking for a punch of coconut, I loved this because it didn’t give me the “still thirsty” feeling that coconut drinks typically do.

13 • White Champaca Coconut ($4.90)

If you’re looking for the ultimate thirst-quencher to beat the heat, this is it. The White Champaca brings its signature nutty and honey-like aroma to the mix, which pairs perfectly with the light, tropical notes of the coconut. Rather than a thick, milky consistency, the coconut here adds a refreshing texture and a clean, crisp finish that doesn't mask the delicate floral notes of the tea. It’s airy, understated, and the perfect companion for a sweaty afternoon.

14 • Pistachio Jasmine Coconut ($6.20)

This is the drink that will make you a believer. The pistachio adds a creamy, savoury depth that pairs beautifully with the light coconut. However, it is here that I learnt Mollytea’s most cruel lesson: you can only really keep their drinks for around half an hour before they start to taste weird in that “flat soda left on a park bench” way. Whatever you order, be sure to finish your drink fast!

15 • Pistachio White Champaca Coconut ($6.20)

Here it is. After no less than 15 different cups, this was the final boss. The white champaca adds a honey-like floral note to the nutty pistachio, creating a drink that is complex, sweet, and incredibly satisfying. Overall, I couldn’t think of a better way to end my tour de Mollytea, and those last few hits of pistachio created a mellow aftertaste that I’ll surely be returning to soon.
