04 • Sauna Bath House

Now here’s something you’ve probably never heard of: traditional Finnish saunas. They’re heated by Löyly, steam that forms when water is ladled over hot stones. Heat and humidity in the room fluctuate dynamically depending on the Löyly, but the place is typically on the drier side.
At Sauna Bath House, the traditional Finnish sauna is split into 2 to maintain precise temperatures. The dry sauna is set exactly at 95°C, whereas the other one incorporates Aufguss, a German sauna ritual in which water infused with essential oils is poured over hot stones. The resulting steam is then circulated around the room through flowy, choreographed towel movements by a trained Aufgussmeister to create a powerful and multi-layered sensory experience.

If you want authenticity, we’ve got you covered. Ikeda Spa brought the very first Japanese onsen and spa treatments to Singapore in 2009, and since then they’ve continued to keep true to their roots. Their signature treatments are admittedly pricey, but they make up for it in sheer quality, with unique rituals, ceremonies and thoughtful little extras on the side.
They’re also home to Singapore's first hinoki onsen, crafted from precious Japanese cypress wood that was once used by royalty. This special type of wood naturally releases relaxing mineral oils into the steamy waters, working wonders to soothe muscle tension.
