Anyone else hated veggies when they were a kid? Me too. Nowadays though, I find myself craving some leafy greens more and more often (that’s when you know you’re really getting old…). But really, there’s nothing better for the body than a good veggie cleanse. Whether you’re a vegetable aficionado or just trying to get healthier, these vegetarian restaurants are surely un-beet-able.

01 • Saute San

Saute San is Singapore’s very first halal-certified Japanese-Korean vegetarian restaurant, putting veggie-licious twists on old favourites. They serve a large variety of dishes, from piping-hot ramen to creamy pasta.
Their signature Orh Luak ($15.50) has juicy straw mushrooms and a smooth savoury omelette, all doused in their special chilli sauce. For a more affordable option, they also have a weekday lunch set of a main and a drink for $12.90.

02 • Bodhi Deli

Tucked away in the corner of Fortune Centre is Bodhi Deli, a quaint hole-in-the-wall serving simple yet delicious local cuisine. There are some unique dishes too, like the Assam Laksa ($6.00), a creamy delight of pineapple slices, lime, cucumber, and mint.
Over the years, they’ve cultivated a small but loyal following. The menu rotates daily and some dishes can be sold out by lunchtime, so make sure to come early to enjoy a good ol’ comfort meal.

Peranakan or Thai food? Why not both! Whole Earth is the first and only Peranakan-Thai vegetarian restaurant in Singapore, serving you the best of both worlds. And they do it well, too — they’ve been recognised by the Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2016, a whopping 9 times in a row. Their signature Penang Rendang ($28) is a burst of full-bodied flavour, with chewy and earthy shiitake mushrooms marinated in a mouth-watering medley of herbs and spices.

04 • Herbivore

As one Google Reviewer puts it, Herbivore is simply “delicious Japanese food that happens to be vegetarian”. Through some truly ingenious recipes, their meatless meals are so rich and flavourful that you’d hardly notice any difference from the real thing.
Their exquisitely-crafted bentos and sushi have been especially popular. The Mitoboru Maki ($18) is my personal favourite — they’re rice rolls with mock crab, avocado, and cucumber, fried to perfection and drizzled with a delectable sweet and spicy sauce.
📍 Address: 190 Middle Road, #01-13/14 Fortune Centre, Singapore 188979

Over the years, they’ve won multiple awards at the RAS Epicurean Star Awards for their innovative fine dining dishes such as the Vegetarian Goose and Crispy Beancurd Skin with Wheat Wrap ($26). Looking for authentic Korean cuisine without breaking the bank? Look no further than The Boneless Kitchen. They’re a simple, cosy restaurant in Tai Seng, with generous portions and lots of flavour.
The Budae Jjigae ($14) is a heavenly bowl of army stew with cheese, tteokbokki, mock meat, and ramen. It’s the perfect comfort meal after a long day. The mock meat is the real star of the show here — it’s tender, chewy, and soaks up all the flavours of the soup.

08 • Tracy Juice Culture

This is a pretty strange food combination, but hear me out: fruits in curry. This unique dish is Tracy Juice Culture’s signature Fruit Juice Curry ($9.90), featuring bits of dragonfruit, cherry tomatoes, and grapes, in a bright orange curry soup blended with pineapple juice. I thought this was too weird, even for me, but the bright and tangy fruits actually cut through the richness of the soup really well.
If you want to try something safer, another popular item on their menu is Tracy’s Special Mushroom Udon ($9.90). It’s thick and smooth, creamy even without actual cream. In fact, it’s so popular that you can buy just the soup base itself to cook at home.

Their homemade chutneys are the real deal — a spicy, savoury, and tangy delight that just hits the spot. Pair them with the incredibly soft lentil Idli ($10 for 3pc, $11 with vadai) and you’ve got yourself a breakfast fit for a king. Customers have also raved about the fragrant Basmati Rice ($10) and Paneer Tikka Masala ($24) that positively melts in your mouth.

Wellness is the name of the game — they focus on wholesome and fresh meals without any refined sugars or seed oils.
The M*Spicy ($21.90), a clever take on the burger-who-shall-not-be-named, is well worth its price, with an uber-thick, juicy, deep-fried patty made from lion’s mane mushroom and a homemade spicy mayonnaise. Pair it with one of their concentrated Wellness Shots ($4.50) for a much-needed power-up.
