$500. In your phone. Right now.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, most households have received half a grand in CDC vouchers as of June 2026. Of this, half of them are dedicated grocery vouchers. The other half, however, can be spent on selected heartland merchants across Singapore.
Most households will whittle these down over the years with hawker centre meals. But if you’ve still got vouchers burning a hole in your pocket and nowhere to spend them, you could be missing out on a chance to really treat yourself. So we went hunting, and came back with 25 of them sorted by neighbourhood, so you can find one near you or whoever's hosting this weekend.
Up north: restaurants that accept CDC vouchers in Sembawang, Punggol, and Ang Mo Kio
01 • 13 Miles

Everything arrives in one bag, you tip it out across the table, and nobody ends up counting whose prawn is whose. That, my friends, is the magic of a good seafood boil. And thanks to 13 Miles’ Shellout Set for Two ($59), you can experience this chaos yourself in a variety of flavours, including salted egg, sambal, and black pepper. Wear something you don't mind staining, and expect to get hands-on.
🍽️ What we ate here: Crabs hit extra good when you’re eating them caveman-style, and extra-extra good when battered with salted egg.

02 • First Culinary Restaurant

First Culinary in Ang Mo Kio does Cantonese banquet food the way Singaporean families have been ordering it for decades: round table, lazy susan, and a Taro Hive that arrives looking like an actual bird's nest and vanishes in like four minutes. Rounding up this list of usual suspects are Roast Duck and Salted Egg Yolk Prawns. It just works; even moreso when you’re eating on the government’s dime.
📍 Address: 2 Ang Mo Kio Drive ITE, College Central, #01-09, Singapore 567720

03 • No Horse Run Cafe

$9.90 set meals? In this economy?
No Horse Run Cafe is stabled up at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, and serves up affordable Western classics at prices that are just as mouthwatering. We’re talking Chicken Baked Rice, Carbonara Pasta, Signature Carbonara… it may not be the most exciting thing in the world, but with these prices and student saver meals from $5, who’s complaining?
🍽️ What we ate here: The cheesy baked rice here gave me a sense memory from when 18chefs used to give you a main, ice cream, AND iced lemon tea for $5 🥲
📍 Address: Blk 202 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3, #01-1682, Singapore 560202

The central belt: restaurants that accept CDC vouchers in Toa Payoh, Bishan, and Upper Thomson
Many of the places here are seafood restaurants working out of HDB blocks, and have been feeding families here for a very, very long time.
04 • Swatow Seafood Restaurant

Cold Crab when it's in season, and Orh Nee with Pumpkin (around $6.80++) to finish, because a proper Teochew meal doesn't end any other way. Swatow serves the food a whole generation of Singaporeans grew up on, and serves it the way that generation remembers.
🍽️ What we ate here: One Lunar New Year, my family split a plate of their Signature Swatow Chicken.
📍 Address: 181 Lor 4 Toa Payoh, #02-602, Singapore 310181
⏰ Opening hours: Mon to Fri, 9am – 2.30pm, 3pm – 5pm, 6pm – 10pm | Sat and Sun, 8am – 2.30pm, 3pm – 5pm, 6pm – 10pm

05 • Kelly Jie Seafood

Ever had Kan Xiang Mee Tai Mak before? Short, stubby noodles, dry-fried hard until they've soaked up everything the wok had to give. There’s abalone and shark fin hiding deep in the menu’s recesses, too 👀
🍽️ What we ate here: The Mee Tai Mak came to my table smelling up the whole place. Still worth it, though.
📍 Address: 211 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh, #01-11/15 Block 211, Singapore 310211

07 • Yang Ming Seafood

Yang Ming operates out of an HDB block in Bishan, plastic chairs and all, so don’t expect any white tablecloth here! Instead, patrons of Yang Ming will want to ready their stomachs for good, unc-pleasing hits like the Drunken Prawn (from $33), which lands on your table still steaming in its herbal broth. The sliced fish dishes are also done properly here, and anyone who's eaten tons of zi char knows how much that's worth.

08 • Casuarina Curry

The Fish Head Curry turns up in a pot big enough for the whole table to fight over, which is more or less why you order it. Casuarina also does Roti Prata, Paper Thosai, and Biryani, so the picky eaters have something to eat, and the vegetarians aren't left staring at a plate of rice.
🍽️ What we ate here: I’m a sucker for a good Butter Chicken Briyani, and the good folks at Casuarina made sure I was not left wanting.

09 • Anna's Sourdough

The grandkids want pizza, the aunties want somewhere air-conditioned to sit and talk for two hours, and you want something halal. Before the argument even starts, bring them down to Anna’s Sourdough, which stocks just about anything you could make out of slightly-tangy bread
If you're there mid-afternoon rather than for a full dinner, the High Tea Set ($38 for two) is a great way to get a slightly-sinful treat in, too.
🍽️ What we ate here: When I’m hanging out with my friends who stay in Punggol, the Sourdough Oatmeal Raisin Cookie is a sweet pick-me-up that’s easy on the tummy. Watch out fo the crumbs, though!
📍 Address: 681 Punggol Drive, #01-04 Oasis Terraces, Singapore 820681

10 • Gusta Sourdough Pizza Co.

A sourdough pizza place in a Serangoon shop unit, running a Mala Chicken ($24.50++) pizza that shouldn't work and somehow does. Seriously, it should not have taken this long for someone to figure out how good Mala tastes with cheese and dough, and yet…
If you’re here with less adventurous friends, Gusta also has a few standard pies, like the $20.50++ Margherita.
🍽️ What we ate here: I would be going here waaaay more often for the Mala Chicken Pizza if I didn’t fear for my tummy. It’s also (frankly) not that spicy, so it’s a good crowd-pleaser, too.
📍 Address: 326 Serangoon Avenue 3, #01-378, Singapore 550326

11 • Lemongrass

The Royal Platter ($68.80) is built for sharing, and Tom Yum Fried Rice ($8.80) keeps the per-head cost sensible however big the group gets. The big steamed fish dishes like the Asam Pedas even come in a huge metal tray, making this one of the best crowdwowers on this list.

East side: restaurants that accept CDC vouchers from Tampines to Changi
Who knew Easties were eating this good the whole time? We’re talking about halal Mexican, two Teochew stalwarts, proper Sichuan, a steakhouse, and a smokehouse by the sea.
12 • Chin Lee Restaurant

A Bedok North Teochew stalwart with two dishes to look out for. The Coffee Pork Ribs ($19) are sticky, dark, and gone almost immediately, while the Fried Oyster Pancake ($30) takes its time coming out and is worth every minute.
There's a Canberra Plaza outlet as well, handy when half the family lives up north and refuses to travel.
🍽️ What we ate here: The Kway Teow dishes here are particularly fragrant, which was a pleasant surprise.
📍 Address: 115 Bedok North Road, #01-285, Singapore 460115

13 • Jing Long Seafood Restaurant

The Hong Kong Style Steam Seabass is priced at $5.50 per 100g, which means you size the fish to the size of the table. That sounds like a small thing until you're feeding nine people and don't fancy sending leftovers home in three separate containers. The Lobster Porridge is seasonal and the regulars plan around it. Prawn Paste Chicken Wings (from $12.80) keep the younger ones going while the adults wait on the fish.

14 • Ba Shu Sichuan Restaurant

Make sure you’ve gotten all your discussions out of the way before visiting Ba Shu, because the Green Pepper Fish brings the kind of numbing heat that stops conversation for a second or two. Bringing some sweet relief is the Tomato Meatball Soup, which has the sweet, tangy kind of flavour that’s just noticeable enough to take your mind off the burn.
🍽️ What we ate here: The Spicy Boiled Pork here could seriously give Tai Er a run for its money. Yeeowch!

15 • Black Pearl Steakhouse

The Prime Ribeye 350g ($88++) will chew through your heartland merchant allocation in one sitting, so make sure you have enough vouchers saved up! Don’t have the stomach for beef or high prices? The good news is that you can get a lunch set here from $28.80, which ranges from Red Wine Lamb Shank to Duck Confit.
🍽️ What we ate here: The Black Cod Fish and Chips made me just a little guilty for pairing such fine fish with fries. Still would totally do it again, though.

17 • Yum Cha Restaurant

Two floors of dim sum in a shophouse just off Trengganu Street, with Xiao Long Bao ($6.80) and a weekday High Tea Buffet ($32.80++ per person) that is the right call when you're feeding relatives who like to keep ordering. Skin pleated thin enough to go translucent, holding a mouthful of hot pork broth that escapes down your wrist if you bite too early. Add some ginger and black vinegar to cut the fat, and you’ve got yourself a meal fit for a king.
📍 Address: 20 Trengganu Street, #02-01, Singapore 058479

18 • Lai Wah Restaurant

Grandparents all around Singapore will gladly argue your ear off about which restaurant really invented the yu sheng, but one of the names that comes up more often is Lai Wah. And when you’re dining here, it’s not hard to see why. Cold raw fish against shredded carrot and daikon, a plum sauce that arrives sweet and finishes sour, and crushed peanuts and fried crackers folded through so that every mouthful has something in it that snaps. Just how they used to do it.
📍 Address: 44 Bendemeer Rd, #01-1436, Singapore 330044

19 • Gandhi Restaurant

No, the prices aren’t a misprint. Masala Mutton at around $6.50. Thosai from around $2. Briyani from around $7.50.
Personally though, my fave is the mutton. It's cooked long enough that the meat gives way against the side of a spoon, in a gravy heavy with cumin and coriander and carrying enough chilli that the rice stops being a side and starts being a necessity. Get a thosai alongside for the contrast. Fermented batter gives it a faint sourness; the edges go brittle and shatter, and the middle stays soft enough to mop up whatever's left on the leaf.

20 • Keng Eng Kee Seafood

Keng Eng Kee has been doing zi char in Alexandra Village for three generations, and its following reaches well past the neighbourhood.
No good order here is complete without the Coffee Pork Ribs. The coffee in that glaze does something plain sugar can't, putting a dark, faintly bitter edge underneath the sweetness so it never flattens out, and the sauce reduces down until it clings to the meat and then to your fingers.
🍽️ What we ate here: I’ve never passed up a chance to try Sambal Stingray, and this place was no exception. Here, it’s served with a slightly smoky flavour.
📍 Address: 124 Bukit Merah Lane 1, #01-136, Singapore 150124

21 • Westlake Restaurant

Westlake cooks the way Chinese restaurants in Singapore cooked before the menus got clever. Take the Kong Bak Pao, for example: Pork belly braised in dark soy and five spice until the fat turns to something closer to jelly than meat, then folded into a steamed bun that soaks up the braising liquid and goes slightly translucent where the two meet. Sweet, salty, and rich enough that one is usually the right number.
🍽️ What we ate here: During a meal here with a particularly picky niece, the Sweet and Sour Pork was a clutch pick.
📍 Address: Blk 4 Queen's Road, Farrer Road MRT, #02-139 Exit B, 260004

22 • Meshiya

Meshiya a teeny tiny donburi and udon counter wedged into an Everton Park HDB block with a dearth of sitting space as well as GST and service charges. It’s also one of the few places in Singapore where you can get a Katsu Don for just $8.50!
🍽️ What we ate here: The Bara Salad Don is a crazy steal at $14.80, and it’s chock-full of seafood served up in chunky bits.

23 • Le Rida

Chicken Tikka from around $16.90+, Lebanese Kofta Kebab from around $23+, and baklava to finish, all out of one kitchen on Bukit Timah Road. For some, it’s a sign of a restaurant with an identity crisis. But if you’re right in Le Rida’s strike zone, it’s a dream come true. Be sure to bring reading glasses for their menu.

24 • Green On Earth Vegetarian Cafe

Vegetarian zi char at The Rail Mall, running a plant-based Mala Xiang Guo from around $15 and Little Wok Braised Beancurd from around $14. While some may turn their nose up on it, I’ll let you in on a little secret: mushrooms and mock meat soak up oil way better than meat does.

25 • Caruso Italian Restaurant

Puglian cooking, narrowed down further to Locorotondo in the Bari region, bears a few differences from your standard Italian cuisine, starting with the pasta shape served. Orecchiette are small ear-shaped discs, thicker around the rim than through the middle, so they chew rather than collapse and the hollow holds sauce instead of letting it slide off.
The Pappardelle with Braised Lamb is the other one worth your attention. Wide ribbons under lamb that's been cooked down long enough to shred against a fork, giving up its fat into the sauce as it goes, so the whole thing turns rich and slightly sticky by the time it reaches you.
📍 Address: 791 Bukit Timah Road, #01-01, Singapore 269764
