Sometimes when my room makes me feel too claustrophobic, I book a car to the nearest rock climbing gym to let loose. If I’m feeling really hardcore, I head to a bouldering gym instead to enjoy a harness-free adventure up the walls. Scuttling around like Spiderman with a caffeine addiction might not be for everyone, but kids might want to spend more time showing off their climbing prowess instead of being cooped up in their rooms.

If you’re planning on spending some quality time with family or undertaking a solo adventure to get swole, have a look below at our 10 best places to rock climb and boulder.

01 • BFF Climb (CT Hub Bendemeer)

(Photo: littledayout)

Whether you’re climbing with big or small BFFs, this rock climbing gym in Bendemeer’s got it covered. Equipped with beginner friendly climbing routes, high-quality holds, and exceptional staff (lovingly referred to as Buddies), you’re guaranteed to make wonderful memories with your BFFs here.

Children above the age of 4 are encouraged to join the Kids Guided Sessions so that they can play in a safe and secure environment. For my East-siders out there, no need to worry; BFF Climb has two (yes, two!) outlets in Tampines, so you won’t have to come down to Bendemeer to join in on the fun.

02 • Boulder Movement (Rochor)

(Photo: familyaction)

The thought of scaling walls without ropes is pretty terrifying, but Boulder Movement prides itself on setting programs for people with a wide range of bouldering experience. That is to say, if you rocked up to the gym with no experience whatsoever, you would still have a fun time and live to tell your friends about it.

Head Route Setter Mike Taret, a Frenchman who formerly worked at a Chicago bouldering gym, has made Boulder Movement his new home with colourful but functional wall holds sprinkled around the area. If you’re looking for a challenging and memorable experience, this is your sign to come down and get bolder with Boulder Movement.

Upwall Climbing has made E!Hub@Downtown East its home for almost 6 years, and children have been flocking to it even during COVID. Their all-inclusive birthday package promises a jam-packed climbing experience for kids of all ages — 2500 square feet of adventure, a 12m climbing wall,  a dedicated party area, and a special balloon surprise for the birthday finale 👀.

04 • Lighthouse Climbing (Pasir Panjang)

(Photo: Lighthouse Climbing Spark 2026)

Originally powered by the passion of 348 bouldering enthusiasts, Lighthouse Climbing is Singapore’s first-ever crowdfunded climbing gym. Now, it’s home to some truly remarkable bouldering gear, including but not limited to: a 12ft x 12ft fully-adjustable Kilter Board, a programmable MoonBoard that lets you share and climb routes against a global leaderboard, and a dense Spray Wall that lets you climb as creatively as you want while looking like the bottom of a Skittles packet.

The gym also offers a bodyweight training system called Animal Flow where you contort your body into beast-like poses to improve your physique and stamina. No, you’re not expected to rock climb while doing Animal Flow, but if you manage to maintain a crab pose on the wall, I’m sure the instructors will be very impressed.

05 • 15M Sports Climbing Rock Wall (SAFRA Yishun)

(Photo: SAFRA@Yishun Rockwall)

Maybe you’re the simple type; you don’t want multi-coloured climbing holds blinding you, the cold air-conditioner freezing up your muscles, and loud music assaulting your ears as you try to scale a 10m wall. SAFRA Yishun has the perfect solution to your needs — a 15m outdoor rock wall only open to those with Level 1 Singapore National Climbing certificates. If you’re looking for a chill place to exercise, the staff at the SAFRA rock wall would be more than happy to turn the radio’s cheesy pop segment off and watch you climb in silence. Appointments for Tuesdays to Thursdays must be made 3 days in advance, so don’t walk in without a booking and ask to climb; the staff will probably side-eye you if you do.

📍 Address: 60 Yishun Avenue 4, Singapore 769027

06 • Ark Bloc (Punggol)

If the SAFRA rock wall isn’t enough to make you sweat, then this outdoor gym will. Here, you can take on challenging bouldering walls with fellow hot-blooded climbers for the low price of $28 per entry. The huge gym size means you don’t have to wait around for a free spot, and can start climbing the moment you’re ready. No time to waste! If you want a palate cleanser when you’re done, the gym also offers callisthenics and strongman exercises (included in the entry fee!) so you can switch things up when your routine starts getting stale. I don’t know about you, but I can feel my abs toning just by looking at the website.

07 • Verticlimb Singapore (i12 Katong)

(Photo: Verticlimb)

Does the name Nicholas Lee ring a bell? Maybe not. After all, he’s only a former National Climber who represented Singapore three times overseas and has over 10 years of rock climbing experience, including 7 years in coaching.

Yup, not a big deal. Jokes aside, Nicholas is the founder of Verticlimb, Singapore’s first gamified indoor rock climbing studio, and the host of Singapore’s first rock climbing class for special needs children. Parents won’t have to worry as the one-on-one classes closely follow the studio’s own special needs sports syllabus which is individualised for each child’s condition. Verticlimb is Nicholas’s pride and joy, so don’t be shy. Bring your family and friends down and be part of Nicholas’s dream.

08 • Climba Gym (Robinson Centre)

(Photo: Climba Gym)

Climba Gym extends a hearty “konnichiwa!” to climbing otakus across Singapore. Founded by best friends Travis and Glen, this Japanese-inspired bouldering gym has 4 walls all named after onigiri ingredients. Start your journey on the beginner Gohan wall, practice footwork on the 6° Nori wall, train your weight distribution skills on the 40° Furikake overhang, or go full throttle on the challenging Ikura wall. With classes tailored to beginners and intermediates, your ninja wall-climbing skills will make you the envy of your friend group. Believe it!

09 • SuperPark Singapore (Suntec City Mall)

(Photo: thenewageparents

In SuperPark, adults can be kids and kids can be… well, not adults, but they can climb with one at least. The SuperClimb rock wall is 8m high, but as long as the kid is at least 100cm tall, both parent and child can challenge this wall together.

For little ones who want to try something more their size, the children’s Adventure Area hosts a much smaller wall for budding climbing enthusiasts to test out. Even if rock climbing doesn’t tickle their fancy, there are also tons of trampolines, ziplines, and other fun activities to do in SuperPark.

📍 Address: 3 Temasek Boulevard, #01-488, Singapore 038983
⏰ Opening hours:
Mon to Thurs, 10.30am – 8pm | Fri, 10.30am – 9pm | Sat, 9am – 9pm  | Sun, 9am – 8m

10 • Kinetics Climbing (Serangoon)

(Photo: Kinetics Climbing)

Charging just $16.50 for off-peak passes, Kinetics Climbing is the most affordable gym on this list, and potentially the whole of Singapore. Not only is it relatively cheap, its head coach Jay Koh is also a 2011 SEA Games silver medalist in bouldering.

On top of that, unlike other bouldering gyms, Kinetics Climbing offers harnesses and belay devices for rent in case you don’t feel comfortable free soloing the wall. Do I need to go on? I can totally go on, but I think it’s for the best if you head on down and experience it for yourself.

📍 Address: 511 Serangoon Road, Singapore 218153
⏰ Opening hours:
Mon, 4pm – 10pm | Tue to Fri, 1pm – 10pm | Sat & Sun, 10am – 7pm

Somewhat (13 years or older recommended)
